It’s on the TF1 website, SOS Villages, that Anthony Bulcours and his partner Élodie Seuron, both aged 29, saw an advertisement posted by Philippe Patrigeon, mayor of La Berthenoux, seeking new managers for his restaurant and bar, which was closed from May 2023 following the departure of the previous managers. “We had been looking for a business to take over for a while, visited several before we found this one which had been completely renovated.explains Anthony Bulcours. Everything went very well from the visit, there was a very good understanding from the beginning, so we chose Berry, a region we did not know.

The municipality bought this establishment in 2019 and invested 405,000 euros in it. with the aim of maintaining local business in this village of 400 inhabitants. Le Berthouniat bar restaurant is remarkably equipped with a kitchen that meets the latest standards and has a room for 40 seats and a terrace with around twenty seats for sunny days. “We have a great working tool“, rejoices Anthony Bulcours.

The enterprise stores bread. It has a food corner with basic necessities. It’s also a print warehouse, a newsagent and there are FDJ games. It is open every day except Monday. Le Berthouniat offers traditional cuisine with a daily menu for lunch and dinner by reservation, as well as pizzas to eat in or take away. Anthony Bulcours and Élodie Seuron plan to host a theme night once a month and broadcast sports events.
