EasyJet: new route to Spain opens from Lille

The British low-cost airline is opening a new route to the sun from Lille-Lesquin airport for this summer. It will be the sixth departure from the northern city.

Northern travelers can smile. Those who have not yet decided where to spend their vacation may have another idea. According to information from France Bleu Nord, the British low-cost airline EasyJet is preparing to open a new route from Lille-Lesquin Airport to Alicante, Spain, in the southeast of the country. It is not is not the first route that EasyJet operates in Spainbecause Palma de Mallorca has been accessible from Lille for two years now, but it is the second sunny destination on offer.

The connection will be available from May 1 to the end of October. Enough to travel at low prices for the May Bridges and especially for the summer holidays, since the starting price of the ticket is set at 35 euros one way. Two flights per week will be offered, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Please note that flight booking is already possible on the EasyJet website. Now with a 35% market share at Lille-Lesquin Airport, EasyJet becomes the first company to operate there. The people of Lille can now travel to six cities : Geneva in Switzerland, Nice, Toulouse, Bordeaux and thus two Spanish cities.

Towards new lines in the coming months

This destination was clearly in high demand among northern as well as Belgian travelers. “We’re delighted because it fills a need and it’s in that strategy that we’re here at the airport, meeting the needs of the residents first and foremost.”, Lille-Lesquin Airport Director Magali Huchette explains to France Bleu. In addition to Alicante, flights to Palma de Mallorca, previously only available in summer, will also be operated from May 1 until the end of October. The company hopes to open more lines of this type in the coming months due to good initial sales. Since the beginning of the year, the British low-cost airline has expanded its opening in several French airports: in Nice, Paris, Nantes, Toulouse and Lyon.
