A man in his forties accompanied by his partner and child was attacked with a knife in the Super U car park in Onet-le-Château. Despite the intervention of the firemen, he did not survive.
The horror happened early yesterday evening near Onet-le-Château. A man in his forties accompanied by his partner and child was attacked with a knife. According to our information, he died in the evening, succumbing to his injuries despite the intervention of twelve firefighters.
The victim’s companion is also injured
At the time the incident occurred, it was 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the city’s Super U supermarket. According to several witnesses who witnessed the scene, it was, at the very least, a harmless interaction that would turn into tragedy. The victim allegedly stopped a motorist whose behavior was considered dangerous.
From there, a scuffle first broke out in the same car park before the alleged assailant attacked the father and his partner with a knife – who were slightly injured, according to firefighters – in front of their child, at the entrance to the shopping centre. “It’s appalling and pathetic, these people were attacked in a cowardly way,” responded a few minutes after the events, the mayor of Onet-le-Château Jean-Philippe Keroslian, who rushed to the scene after the tragedy.
The alleged attacker was detained by the police
The attack happened in front of several witnesses – the store was still open when it happened – and in an area with many cameras. Despite his attempt to escape, the police detained the alleged attacker a few minutes after the incident, about a hundred meters from the scene.
At this time, little information has been released about the identity of this arrested person. As for the victims, they would have been neither Castonétois nor Aveyronnais and probably passed through the territory for a few days… “We cannot imagine that something like this could happen here and in such a way…”, also adds Jean-Philippe Keroslian. The investigation is ongoing while we await further information.
