Favorite village of the French: 14 villages selected in 2024

In 2023, Esquelbecq was designated, located about twenty kilometers south of Dunkirk. A new edition of “The Favorite Village of the French”, presented by Stéphane Bern, will soon be broadcast on France 3. Meanwhile, the vote for the most beautiful city in France is open between 19 February and 8 March.

Promote heritage

Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Brittany, Guadeloupe, Hauts-de-France… a total of fourteen regions are represented for this edition. For these villages, it is an opportunity to draw attention to their heritage, cultural offer, history in order, why not, to attract new visitors. A challenge for these small towns trying to stand out among the big ones 34,970 recorded by INSEE.

From Flaubert to Coluch

Among the selected cities, some were inspired Marquise de Sévignénovelist Gustave Flaubert or even painters Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí AND Henri Matisse; comedian Coluche one of them he liked when the writer Jean d’Ormesson was inspired by another – where another novelist lived: Françoise Sagan (and no, it’s not Honfleur in Normandy).
