Figeac. Poet Christian Viguié at Jeanne d'Arc High School

On the occasion of the “Spring of Poets in Lot and Aveyron”, organized by Les Nuits & les Jours de Querbes, the three middle classes of the Jeanne d’Arc high school in Figeac had the opportunity to welcome the poet Christian Viguié to their class. Christian Viguié, originally from Decazeville, author of about thirty collections of poetry, awarded with a number of prizes, including the prestigious Prix Mallarmé, is a poet with an atypical career. A laborer’s son, a wanderer in his youth, then a teacher near Limoges until his recent retirement, he discovered literature through Baudelaire and Dostoyevsky and was “burnt with words” that day. Since then, poetry occupied his entire existence. On Thursday, March 7, he shared his passion for simplicity in front of the students, emphasizing that his inspiration draws its source from everyday life: “Beauty and wonder are often found in the simplest things,” he explained to the students.

This moment of sharing was an enriching experience, prompting reflection and questions about the process of inspiration and the act of writing poetry.
