The driver of the stolen vehicle lost control of the curve before crashing into a car coming from the opposite direction.
The initial facts come from February 13. On that day, the Millavois police received a report of the theft of a Citroën C4 that had just taken place on the Boulevard de l’Ayrolle in Millau.
Using city video security services, the stolen vehicle was detected and then reported near Avenue du Languedoc. The police then decide to follow the car as it drives along the Cavalerie coast. Seeing the police, the driver made a sudden U-turn and returned to the center of Millau at high speed. While the police officers were watching him from a distance, the driver of the stolen vehicle failed to steer in a bend and crashed into a car coming from the opposite direction.
The perpetrator, a 49-year-old man from Millavois, was eventually arrested and the victims rescued. All people, victims and perpetrators, were taken to the hospital. After hospitalization, the author was placed in a police cell.
On Friday 15 March he was prosecuted for theft of a vehicle, refusal to comply, wounding with intent, excessive speed in urban areas and was brought to court where he was sentenced to three years in prison, including twelve months suspended.
