On Monday, April 8, Michelin unveiled its first 2024 keys, which reward the most remarkable French hotels in its guide based on five criteria, just as it rewards the best restaurants thanks to their stars. Discover the most affordable of them.

Stars for restaurants and now keys for hotels. This Monday, April 8, 2024, Michelin presented its 2024 Keys in France, an award that rewards the best hotels in France in its Red Book, before announcing its other keys by country throughout the year.
Just as Michelin rewards the best restaurants in the world, Michelin now awards keys to businesses that it says offer the most remarkable hotel experiences in its guide to “highlight cream“, THE “The ultimate“. All this from his selection of 5,000 hotels worldwide that he has been recommending since 1920.
What criteria did Michelin use to select hotels?
To assign the keys to these luxury hotels – whose prices in France range from 122 euros per night in a renovated mill overlooking the Dronne in the Dordogne to 1,805 euros per night in the Plaza Athénée in Paris – the Michelin guide has maintained five criteria. Degree of perfection of architecture and interior design, quality and regularity of services, character of establishment, quality/price ratio and “accommodation capacity to be an open door to the destination in which it is located“.

One, two or three keys?
Just as a restaurant can get up to three stars, a Michelin-checked hotel can get one, two or three keys, which are synonymous with “unique stay”, “exceptional stay” and “extraordinary stay”. If device prices vary within these categories, the more stars the device has, the more expensive it is of course.
