Valérie Pécresse, LR president of the Ile-de-France region, announced on Monday evening the “suspension” of funding from the region (i.e. one million euros) to the facility following blockades and mobilizations, sometimes interrupted by tension, within Sciences Po. in recent days in support of the Palestinians.

“No anti-Semitic comments”

When asked about the suspension of disciplinary proceedings announced on Friday by the management against the students mobilized in these actions, the minister of higher education repeated that it was only a single sanction, “connected to the invasion of the staircase leading (to the offices) of the management”.

She added that there were “no anti-Semitic remarks” and “no violence”. “There will never be any talk of lifting the sanction related to anti-Semitic statements,” said Sylvie Retailleau.

And “there will be no suspension of cooperation with universities in Israel,” she said, referring to one of the activists’ demands.
