That’s right, the travel comparison site Kayak.fr has just published this Tuesday, April 23, the 10 most popular destinations among the French to take advantage of these long weekends.
Destinations, some cheap and which highlight the Mediterranean edge with Marseille, Palermo, Algiers, Ajaccio, Cagliari, Catania, Figari. And on a wider scale, the south of Europe with sunshine and mild temperatures for the French who want to escape this endless winter, with very attractive prices, the icing on the cake.

According to research conducted by Kayak.fr between January 1 and April 11, 2024, compared to the same period last year, Marseille is the most affordable most desired city with a return ticket at €171*, closely followed by Algiers. for 191 euros. The 200-euro threshold is quickly surpassed by Palermo with 252 euros, closely followed by the Balearic Islands with 262 euros and Catania with 275 euros. France gains a total of three destinations in the top 10 most searched European destinations with Figari and Ajaccio. These two destinations on the beauty island are available with return flights for 315 euros and 294 euros.

Against all expectations, the least accessible destinations in the ranking are also the most sought after by French tourists. At the top of the list is Madeira, a Portuguese island off the coast of Morocco. Searches for Funchal, its capital city, tripled compared to the same period last year, representing the largest increase in searches of any destination analysed. A return flight to this city costs around 458 euros on average. Istanbul remains as attractive as ever with a 160% increase in searches compared to 2023 and an average price of €330 for a return ticket.
