The park announced Inouka’s death six months after the death of another killer whale, Moana. The Association for the Protection of Animals files a complaint for cruelty.
Marineland has lost one of its attractions. The marine mammal Inouk died in his pool in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes), a male who was 25 years old. “This is terrible news that affects the animal keepers and all the Marineland teams who saw Inouk born 25 years ago.”, the marine park explains in a press release, Thursday 28. Another killer whale died already five months ago. There are only two killer whales left in Antibes: Wikie, 22 years old, and Keijo, 10 years old.
Ban on cetacean exhibitions
The animal rights group, One Voice, condemned the conditions of the animal’s captivity. The association will file a complaint for mistreatment. She appointed an external vet six months ago. Over the weekend, he observed the behavior of killer whales in the park. “Inouka’s dental problems were so severe that a person with a similar condition would have suffered enough to probably request euthanasia.”, explains David Perpinan, a veterinarian in charge of the NGO One Voice. The Animal Cruelty Act plans to ban cetacean exhibitions in 2026.
