The “severely injured” young girl woke up from a coma, the prosecution said on Wednesday evening, indicating that she would be questioned on Thursday. The attack took place on Tuesday around 16:00 outside the Arthur-Rimbaud college in the La Mosson – La Paillade district northwest of Montpellier. “One of the people involved,” a 14-year-old minor attending the same facility, was arrested Wednesday morning. “She admits that she struck,” the prosecution further clarified.
Two other minors, ages 14 and 15, were subsequently arrested and are being questioned on the same charge of attempted murder of a minor under 15. One of them was already known to the courts, again according to the same source.
Prefect on the spot
The mother of the attacked schoolgirl explained to BFMTV that one of her classmates “made her unhappy for a year and a half or two years”. She claims that she was banned from the establishment for two days in June 2023, particularly after she posted a photo of her daughter calling for rape on social media. The indictment emphasizes that the courts “did not receive any reports of harassment against him.”
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the attack on a young girl last night in front of Rimbaud College in #Montpellier. Everything is being done to find the attackers in connection with @PoliceNat34, who was detained,” said Prefect Hérault on Wednesday on X. “I call for calm around the facility where I am going with the rector to meet the teaching team and families,” he adds in the same contribution.
