What to do in Marrakech? The question is vast. Very big. We immediately think of its emblematic markets, red facades, unique architecture and cuisine. On the verge of becoming, according to some of its residents, the Dubai of North Africa, Marrakech shares its space between the authenticity of its Medina and the modernity of the Guéliz quarter, which primarily hosts all the city’s fashionable fauna after dark. Marrakech, the trendy destination of the last months, does not falter and lives up to its reputation more than ever by ticking all the boxes for a perfect stay that we never want to end. After Amsterdam and Andalusia, head to the iconic ocher city.
Here are 10 key stops in Marrakech:
Hotel in Marrakech: settle in Naoura Barrière
From Menara Airport, it takes about twenty minutes to get to the heart of Marrakech, where the Naoura Barrière is located. This 5-star hotel has 114 rooms, all in a very oriental style, made of dark wood, beige marble and warm colors. Its huge traditional black wooden doors allow access to the luxury without the big fuss that golfers especially like to experience. Naoura is equipped with a pool in the courtyard of the establishment and also has a spa, a mandatory stop for well-being where you will discover a traditional hammam after letting yourself be carried away by the expert fingers of the spa’s masseuse Fatima. As for restaurants, the hotel’s unmissable restaurant is Fouquet’s and its red coat, where you can enjoy masterful local cuisine with typical couscous and vegetable tagine. Small stomachs linger.

Restaurants in Marrakech: lunch at R’Matt, dinner at Sahbi Sahbi
R’Matt’s tropical oasis
Although there are many addresses in Marrakech, this tropical oasis located 40 minutes from the center is worth the detour. Greeted by the beautiful nature, we then walk along the pebbled paths to come face to face with two huge pools, surrounded by gigantic palm trees, a handful of sunbeds and a restaurant, with the Atlas Mountains in the background. In an elegant and simple setting, we dine on simple and gourmet cuisine sourced from a large organic vegetable garden and cooked over a wood fire. This 10-hectare oasis, a mecca of tranquility, presents itself as an ideal setting for a day out for two or with friends, far from the hustle and bustle of Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.

The best of Moroccan cuisine at Sahbi Sahbi
Tucked away in a street in the Gueliz district, Sahbi Sahbi seems a little too modest for our taste. But maybe that’s what made him shine even more. There, everything borders on absolute perfection. From the service, to the decor designed by Studio KO, to the wood-fired kitchen and all-female team, to the subdued atmosphere, this establishment, run by French couple Helena Paraboschi and Pierre Pirajean, has the feel of a real intimate Moroccan palace. Its open kitchen allows guests to witness the precise movements of the women behind the stove. A la carte: everything Morocco does best: couscous, tagines, pigeon lozenge, vegetables and chicken cubes, Moroccan pastries, all accompanied by mint tea of course, served while spinning an oriental playlist. Idyllic and very generous.
